Biographical Info

As one of the original founding members of the Northeast Seafood Coalition, Chris Sherman understood the need to bring fishermen of all gear types, boat sizes and fishing communities together to form the Coalition. Chris’s husband Russell has been fishing since 1971 and they became fishing vessel owners in 1984. They presently own the 72-foot fishing vessel Lady Jane out of Gloucester.

Chris began working as a volunteer for NSC before transitioning to a part-time employee, where she currently serves as the Events and Administrative Coordinator. She annually hosts NSC’s largest fundraiser, known as the “Big Money Raffle.” Throughout the year, Sherman develops and executes special events and fundraising plans that promote NSC initiatives and its membership. She also assists the executive director with administrative support. In the past, Sherman has served on NSC board of directors in 2002 and 2003 and was also the NSC treasurer.

She currently serves on the board of directors of II Northeast Fishery Sector, Inc., the mobile gear sector in Gloucester. She and her husband Russell reside in Gloucester and have one daughter Maggie… and NSC’s canine office-mascot, Katie.
